Trucking Conditions Index 
The TCI is designed to summarize a full collection of industry metrics, with a reading above zero indicating a generally positive environment for truckers. Readings above 10 would signal that volumes, prices, and margins are likely to be in a solidly favorable range for trucking companies.

Shippers Conditions Index 
The SCI is a compilation of factors affecting shippers transport environment. Any reading below zero indicates a less-than-ideal environment for shippers. Readings below 10 signal that conditions for shippers are approaching critical levels, based on available capacity and expected rates.

Intermodal Conditions Index 
The Intermodal Competitive Index is a compilation of factors affecting the competitive posture of the domestic North American intermodal sector versus over-the- road truck. Any reading below zero indicates a less-than- ideal environment for intermodal, while readings above zero are meant to communicate relatively favorable conditions. The ICI looks at a variety of factors including truck capacity, fuel prices, rail service, intermodal rates, and so forth.
