The TCI is designed to summarize a full collection of industry metrics, with a reading above zero indicating a generally positive environment for truckers. Readings above 10 signal that volumes, prices, and margins are likely to be in a solidly favorable range for trucking companies.

Shippers Conditions Index 
The SCI is a compilation of factors affecting shippers transport environment. Any reading below zero indicates a less-than-ideal environment for shippers. Readings below 10 signal that conditions for shippers are approaching critical levels, based on available capacity and expected rates.

China’s trade surplus with the United States swelled to a record in June

Keeping trade squarely in view was Chinese trade data, which showed its trade surplus with the U.S. swelled to a record in June, ahead of the expected tariffs. China’s trade surplus widened to a record high of $28.97 billion, up from $24.58 billion in May, but analysts say this was a one-off affair to beat the tariff deadline.
